On Monday, PUC Chairman Gladys Brown Dutrielle penned public utilities and interested parties regarding the Commission’s March 13th Emergency Order prohibiting the termination of utility services and asked for comments in light of the changing circumstances since the Order went into effect. The Chairman noted that “maintaining a total moratorium for a time-period that is too lengthy may only work to accelerate the accrual of arrearages for many utility customers and place them at increased risk of default and termination in the future, when large bills inevitably become due.” Comments are due by August 18th and Brown Dutrielle announced her intention to address the matter at the Public Meeting of August 27th.
