As expected, the net neutrality advocates are putting on a full court press to have the old rules reinstated under the new Presidential/FCC leadership, and the latest salvo came from a petition filed recently. Among the parties represented on the FCC filing are Common Cause, Free Press, and the United Church of Christ. The filing alleges that the Chairman Pai “Internet Freedom” order “weakened the FCC’s legal authority to provide low-income households with affordable broadband through the Lifeline program at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has made the need for connectivity greater than ever.” (See related story in Quotable Section).
