Plenty to chew on in the wake of yesterday’s board meeting of the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. Several media outlets reported on the contentious issues of prevailing wage, a difficult application process, a minimum monetary threshold for eligible projects and lack of a publicly available weighted scoring system for applications. Taken together, the potential unintended consequences may be projects which cost more than they should, smaller projects going unfunded, and untimely, incomplete or inaccurate applications for broadband projects being submitted to the PBDA. Board Chairman Uri Monson asked staff to record all questions regarding the application process and post answers on the PBDA website ASAP. Stay tuned.
