The FCC is getting out of the 2024 gate with a couple big ticket agenda items on the docket for its January 25 open meeting. As outlined in a release yesterday, Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel announced that the Commission will consider rules to “transition the current voluntary outage reporting structure to a mandatory structure for certain communications providers”, and also address rules requiring the use of more precise location-based information from cellphones for 911 call routing purposes.
