In the wake of this week’s Trump election win, telco analysts are beginning to ponder just what the victory means for the myriad issues pending at all levels of government. On the list (in no particular order of priority) are: the FCC (many believe that Commissioner Brendan Carr is the heir apparent), BEAD (opinions are all over the board in the mainstream media with some suggesting that projects could be sped up by removing some of the application challenges such as prevailing wage, rate regulation, and favoring municipal networks and others offering that the entire program will be under scrutiny), net neutrality (currently delayed by the Ohio Sixth Circuit Court and presumed to be shelved under a Trump Presidency and Carr Chairmanship and, finally, Elon Musk and Starlink. The multi-billionaire supported Trump and Republican candidates to the tune of more than $130 million during the election cycle so analysts are wondering whether the broadband segment of the Musk portfolio will have a better standing when it comes to federal broadband funding than it has to date. Stay tuned.
