In the wake of a federal judge ruling which concluded that it broke its agreement with bondholders, Windstream filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday. Company president and CEO Tony Thomas issued a press release expressing Windstream’s strong disagreement with the ruling, and offering that the bankruptcy filing was a decisive act to secure the long-term financial stability of the company. Thomas also reassured customers that the company remains “Committed to providing critical voice and data services and ensuring customers realize the maximum benefit in transitioning to next generation technology solutions and premium broadband services.” The customer-centric portions of the release were not lost on FCC Wireline Competition Bureau Chief Kris Monteith who issued his own release saying that he was pleased with Windstream’s clarification that its filing will not disrupt customer service.
