Make all the changes you want, just don’t make them mandatory. So say 115 state legislators from 28 states who penned Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick this week regarding the BEAD program. Lutnick has indicated that he intends to fundamentally change the program in a number of now well-known ways which could force states to restart their programs. Rather than delay these programs by a year or more, signers say, why not allow states to decide whether the changes should apply or not. Stay tuned.
