Some potential cost savings to accrue to those filing broadband data for the National BB Map under an item scheduled to be addressed at the FCC’s June 26th open meeting. The item in question is the Fifth Report and Order in WC Docket Nos. 19-95; 11-10 which eliminates the requirement that the BB submissions be certified by a professional engineer. A Commission Fact Sheet on the matter offers that instead of requiring a professional engineer be involved, a “qualified engineer” could do the work and goes on to define the latter as a corporate officer with a B.S. in engineering, an engineer with a B.S. in engineering or similar technical discipline, an employee with a decade of relevant experience or a company contractor. Tune in on the 26th for the disposition of this matter.
