Big news out of Brightspeed this week, which has attracted $3.7 billion in new funding to help support its aggressive broadband build across its footprint. Company executives offered that the funding will not only help with its build but will ease the financial strain of BEAD matching funds requirements. Brightspeed is in the midst of overbuilding its copper footprint in 17 states and is targeting passing 1.75 million locations with fiber by the end of the year and, ultimately, 4 million locations.
