At its Public Meeting yesterday, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission unanimously approved the assessments upon public utilities funding the Commission, the Office of Consumer Advocate, the Office of Small Business Advocate, and the Damage Prevention Committee. With regard to the last one on the list, Chairman Steve DeFrank and Commissioner John Coleman both addressed the fact that, for the first time ever, the assessment for FY 2024-25 will be zero. A written statement from the Chairman noted that the DPC collected fines totaling more than $2.3 million for FY 2023-24, obviating the need for the legislatively approved funding level of $1.4 million. Also on the docket were the abandonment applications of long-distance resellers National Access Long Distance, Integrated Services, Business Network Long Distance Service, Multiline Long Distance, and Network Service Billing. All were unanimously approved.
