The role of the telecommunications industry in the new 911 network was the topic of yesterday’s informational meeting of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee and representatives from Motorola and the Pennsylvania Telephone Association provided their perspectives. The PTA testimony focused on the new costs for rural local telcos associated with the proposed NG911 network and the necessity for interconnection agreements to define those costs, roles, and responsibilities of connecting carriers.
