So, the waste fraud and abuse associated with the federal Lifeline program (especially as it applies to wireless resellers) is not really a thing after all. So says telecom industry consultant Susan Gately after reviewing the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report from last year on the matter. In comments to PRNewswire, Gately called the claims against the resellers “seriously flawed” (based upon, among other things, flawed methodology and reliance on a data set intended for other purposes) and said as much in a letter to several leaders in the U.S. House and Senate.
