Ransomware was front and center this week as the Senate passed legislation addressing these notorious, and sometimes costly attacks. By a vote of 29-20, the chamber passed Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill’s SB 726 which, among other things, prohibits state agencies from using taxpayer dollars to pay for ransomware attacks and expands prohibited acts subject to criminal prosecution.
