A busy week for PTA-supported legislation in the House of Representatives. On Monday, House Bill 1658 received second consideration and, on Tuesday, was voted out of the Appropriations Committee and ultimately passed unanimously by the full House. Sponsored by Representative Doyle Heffley, the bill provides for potential cost-sharing between telcos and PaDOT when the former is required to move infrastructure during road and bridge projects. The bill is designed to save telcos some of the costs associated with these moves, savings which could be used to help support broadband projects.
