Legislature – 4-2-21

A single point of contact for all things broadband is the theme of legislation introduced this week by Representative Pam Snyder (D-Greene). HB 1075 was referred to the House Consumer Affairs Committee yesterday and establishes the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. The PBDA would, among other things, have the authority to disseminate grants and loans to those entities interested in constructing broadband networks in the commonwealth. Snyder also recently released a co-sponsor memo announcing her intention to introduce legislation to increase the minimum broadband speeds under Chapter 30 to 25/3 Mbps; an initiative which is also the objective of Representative Perry Stambaugh’s (R-Perry) recently introduced House Bill 1042 which resides in the House Consumer Affairs Committee.
