On Wednesday, the Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 137, legislation designed to help address telemarketers who prey on the elderly. Sponsored by Senator Doug Mastriano, the bill amends the Telemarketer Registration Act by adding language requiring the Attorney General to establish quarterly communication with the Department of Aging to ensure that Pennsylvanians aged 60 or older have access to information regarding instances of financial exploitation such as identity theft, giving to charities and sweepstakes fraud.
