At its Public Meeting yesterday, the PA PUC unanimously approved the abandonment application of Comcast Business Communications, an entity which the company said has no retail VoIP customers in Pennsylvania. (That entity is Comcast IP Phone). In its responses to Commission staff regarding the abandonment, the company offered that “to the extent Comcast continues to voluntarily report VoIP revenues and line counts, and contribute to regulatory funds, it will do so through its remaining CLEC, Comcast Phone of Pennsylvania, LLC. Also unanimously supported on yesterday’s agenda was the acquisition of Frontier by Verizon, the competitive access provider application of Loop Broadband, and the ETC designation of Truconnect Communications to offer Lifeline only services in Pennsylvania.
