Speaking of missives, Governor Shapiro and the General Assembly were on the receiving end of two of them this week signed by dozens of chambers of commerce and statewide associations (including the PTA) regarding permitting and tax reform. On the tax front, the correspondence noted improving the treatment of Net Operating Losses and maintaining the phasedown of the Corporate Net Income Tax. With regard to permitting, the ask is for the legislature and the governor to “fix the commonwealth’s dysfunctional and unpredictable permitting system”; noting that the current set-up takes too long, lacks transparency, and costs businesses money and the ability to provide good-paying jobs.
